Grail Games @ Essen Spiel

Hi everyone!

Due to Australia’s border still being closed, we were not able to attend Gen Con or Essen this year – the world’s two largest board game conventions.

We thank our friends at Kolossal Games for selling some of our products at Gen Con on our behalf a couple of weeks ago!

As for as Essen is concerned we have some great news! Our friends (and French partners) Matagot are not only going to sell Grail titles at Essen, but they have opened an online store that allows everyone to pre-order for pick-up at the show (or even home delivery after the show)!!

There’s some great bundle deals and amazing prices on there from a number of brands. Why not check out what Grail has to offer while you are there, including our newest game: Hibachi 😀

Grail Games to continue the Manhattan Project story

It was announced today that Grail Games has acquired the rights to publish the Manhattan Project family of games, originally published by Minion Games out of the US.

Sadly, the rights became available after the death in 2019 of Minion‘s much-loved founder, James Mathe. The Manhattan Project line includes The Manhattan Project and its expansions, The Manhattan Project: Chain Reaction, The Manhattan Project: Energy Empire, and The Manhattan Project 2: Minutes to Midnight.

As part of this new agreement, Grail will also fulfil the outstanding Kickstarter campaign for Energy Empire’s Cold War expansion.

Stay tuned for more updates – Grail is flattered and very excited to be able to bring such a formidable group of games into its line-up!

Grail Games announces our 2021 schedule!

Wow! So much to say and so little bandwidth!

Whale Riders is live on Kickstarter!

Grail Games is pleased to announce that Whale Riders is now LIVE on Kickstarter!

Let’s ride the whales together along the Ice Coast with this new board game designed by Reiner Knizia and illustrated by Vincent Dutrait: Whale Riders! The campaign will be live for 2 weeks and will end on July the 28th.

We are really excited to share this new campaign with you and we hope you will enjoy this beautiful game.

Grail Games announces a new “Medici” game coming soon!

Grail Games is pleased to announce that…

Medici: The Dice Game is coming soon! It is a new design by Reiner Knizia that shares the setting and feel of his classic Medici board game, but using dice!

Fast to learn and simple to play, Medici: The Dice Game is a dice-drafting, roll-and-write game. Over the course of three rounds, 2-4 players will fill their ships with the goods presented at the wharf. They will earn money for having the most valued loads, as well as for collecting majorities of the different goods.

Grail Games is pleased to release their third title in the family of Medici games (following Mediciand Medici: The Card Game), with simple, yet highly interactive game play by Reiner Knizia, and stunning artwork by Vincent Dutrait.

2018 in review

This is a very quick post to thank all our supporters and friends for what was a wonderful 2018.

Grail Games released six products this past year:

This was up from the five releases per year Grail has been averaging, however, the final three releases on this list only found their way to stores in December.

Grail also reprinted Elevenses for the fourth time.

It has been exciting, flattering and fulfilling to see our games played around the globe, both in person (at conventions, etc.), and online (on social media, etc.)

The highlight was the release of Yellow & Yangtze, which sold out at Gen Con in August, and has continued to sell well, since. A second printing, in conjunction with a number of international partners, will be released in mid-2019.

2018 was also the year in which (I felt) Grail titles were becoming more recognised and sought after by stores and shoppers. Thanks everyone for your tremendous support 🙂

If there was a negative to the year, it was definitely the fact that our regular manufacturer took three months longer than expected to produce Criss Cross and Kashgar, and Stephenson’s Rocket was seven months late at the factory. Such long, unexpected and unexplained delays can be a death knell for a small company in need of steady cash flow. The end of 2018 was a time to slow down and reflect, in part, brought on by this circumstance.

As far as looking at ways to grow, Grail continually reflects on our partners and friends, and much of these relationships will continue to grow into the future. Thanks to all for your help. In fact, a big announcement is coming in regards to the future of Grail Games and its releases…
